Our History:

Do you believe in Magic?? WE sure do! In less than five short years Millennium Magic has captured four Division A Championships, three fifth place overall medals, we are the past International Division A Silver Medalists and 2003-2004 International Division A Champions!! In 2002 there were 398 Division A choruses world wide chasing this title that we just won this July so needless to say the majority of Sweet Adelines fall into our Division A category!! This is what made it even more challenging, exciting and rewarding for us! The Division A category consists of 15-40 (soon to change to 15-30) members. We took 17 on stage Under Our Own Direction and rocked the Sweet Adeline World!!

So, what was up our sleeves next? We were asked to represent the state of Connecticut in a National Festival of the States Concert Series in October 2003. Our Governor Rowland proclaimed October 2003 as Millennium Magic Month in Connecticut. Then, in November we proceeded our first CD, “It’s a Kinda Magic”…with a few live cuts from our IES performances…(yes, Bohemian Rhapsody is on it)!!!

March 20th, 2004 was the date of our 2nd Annual A Cappella Ballad Blowout in East Hartford, CT!! This was the most wonderful contest/show because it was Inter-Regional and Inter-Organizational!! Harmony Inc participated as well as Sweet Adelines! WE had judges from both organizations! Joan Ross from Harmony Incorporated and OUR Marge Bailey from Sweet Adelines!! WE ALL had a wonderful time!! So whether you’d like to compete, perform, or be an audience member WE’D LOVE TO HAVE YOU!!!!

Our loving thanks to Jan Muck for sharing her talents and heart with us. Jan has been the only contest director we've had. We won 2 of 2 Division A championships with Jan and we were 2 for 2 5th place overall champions. We won the Division A International Silver Medal at IES in 2002, also under the direction of Jan!  WE love you, Jan!!

Millennium Magic is a dynamic chorus just like yours! We have NO contracts, we DO NOT rehearse 3 times a week and we are NOT all quartet people!! We are what you might call over achievers. We love to learn, work hard and carry over what we've learned from week to week!! Millennium Magic (contrary to popular belief) has a longer than some but NOT DIFFICULT auditioning procedure. We offer many ways to help your passing in one try, but if you don’t the first time around, you may audition a second time within a one year period. In spite of (or maybe BECAUSE OF) this, we have NEVER had a single person go through her two tries and NOT become a member of the chorus. WE love to sing and what sets us apart at this time, other than the fact we sing without a director, is that we work as a TEAM in EVERY way. We love each other like crazy and there is NOTHING we wouldn't do for each other!! Please feel free to visit if you are ever in the area!!! We'd LOVE to meet you.. Having FUN and loving what you do is what WE are ALL about!!

MM Motto:

  • We will be honest with one another.

  • We will say what we mean and mean what we say.

  • We will speak to one another with respect.

  • We will communicate directly with another person, saying “I”.

  • We will not say outside the rehearsal what we have not said inside the rehearsal.

  • We will repeat what others have said to confirm we have understood them, and then ask them to do the same if we feel we have been misunderstood.

  • We will recognize and identify merit in another person’s idea before we note its weakness.

  • We will listen to understand but not necessarily agree.

  • We will all be responsible for any action that we decide to take as a chorus.

Harmony Classic 2002:

(Marti Lovejoy's take on our performance in the Harmony Classic 2002 in Greenville, SC)

Millennium Magic - 21 members on stage Region #1 - South Windsor, CT; Jan Muck

Black pants and tops with black sparkly fabric dusters. They look around for Jan Muck, who was introduced as their director - she's not there. They push one out to take the lead and she looks really scared when she sees all the people. They sing Beethoven's Fifth (Beethoven De-composing) with various members directing a bit until they conclude "it's up to us" - wonderful routine. At the end, they introduce Jan. Old Songs, Old Friends* - if you're in a really small chorus, get this video to find out what's possible!; Red, Red Robin*; Bohemian Rhapsody... without direction... I cannot describe the connection this bunch has with the audience. They are performing like a big quartet. GET THE VIDEO!!
